| | We provide a number of services in support of Golden Retrievers.
These services include:
Adoption Guidelines
- If you believe that a Golden Retriever is the perfect match for you, your
family and your lifestyle, and would like to adopt a Rescue, we would love to
hear from you. Our adoption procedure requires that you complete an
adoption
application and sign an
adoption contract.
You can receive these forms in one of two ways.
- Call 516-578-3803, leave
your name and address, and the forms will be mailed to you.
- You can find the appropriate forms by following these links to the
Adoption
Application and
Adoption Contract.
These forma are in .pdf format. You will need a copy of Acrobat Reader
to be able to open and print these forms.

you need the Adobe Acrobat reader, click here to go to the Adobe Web Site to

- We do not place our rescued dogs into homes on a first-come, first-served
basis. All adoption applications are screened and every effort is made to
match the right dog with its new family. Some adoptions happen within days,
others can take several months. As a general rule, the more restrictions
placed on the type of dog desired (age, sex, etc.), the longer the wait.
- Adoption fees and donations are used exclusively to defray the costs of our
rescue efforts and enable us to continue to help Golden Retrievers in need.
- Whenever possible, all dogs are vaccinated, heartworm tested, spayed /
neutered, and given a general health exam prior to adoption.
- If, for any reason, you or a member of your family can no longer care for
your rescued Golden, we ask that the dog be returned to Long Island Golden
Retriever Rescue.
- We strongly recommend that our adopters have a fenced yard to assure
the safety of the dog.
- LIGRR reserves the right to refuse any adoption application.
We can help find your Golden a new loving
home
Thank you for your inquiry regarding Long Island Golden Retriever
Rescue. We will be happy to assist in placing your Golden into a new
home.
- It is to be understood that no dog or supplies may be sold through
our service.
- If your Golden has not been neutered/spayed, we prefer that AKC ownership
papers be withheld until that is done. Rescue Goldens are not to be bred.
- In order for us to place your dog you must complete and return:
-
A "Surrender
Agreement" signed by all registered owners of the dog prior to transferring
him/her to a new home.
-
An "Intake Application"
